How Cool is it to be a Priest or Nun?

          A religious vocation to become a priest or nun, is something we young people should think about.

         Sometimes as young people, we think being a priest or nun is for other people and not for us, but as Catholics we should be aware of the possibility of a religious vocation to become a priest or nun as our life commitment to serve God and His people.

          When we are called to serve the Lord as a priest or nun, we must be ready to say yes to that call. Being called as a priest or nun is a very special honor and invitation from God. We should be proud, thank God, and accept the invitation, because not everybody receives this special invitation.

          Becoming a priest or nun is the most holy and coolest thing on earth, we, young people can do to serve God and His people. As a priest or nun, they sacrifices themselves to serve the need of God's people.

           The role of a priest or nun is very important, because without a priest, there can be no Eucharist, no Reconciliation, no Baptism, or no Holy Matrimony. That's why as young people, we really need to consider this religious vocation to become a priest or nun, especially to replace some of the priests or nuns that will retire soon.

            Family members also need to support the young people that think they have a call to be a priest or nun. Sometimes it is very hard for parent to accept the fact that their children wanted to become a priest or nun. I think family members or parent should support and be proud of their children when they decide to become a priest or nun.

           I was so proud of one family from Kentucky that we met during
our pilgrimages last summer. Three out of five children they have chose to serve the Lord as a priest or nun. Their parents support them, and were so proud of them. Just like Saint Therese's father support all of his five daughters in becoming nuns.

           That's why, to me being a priest or nun is the coolest thing on the earth, because we are chosen by God to serve Him and His people, and spread the good news about God to the world. Just like when Jesus told the disciples to do the work of His father and bring about the Kingdom of Love and Peace. And one of the coolest things, if we became a priest or nun is maybe someday we can become a Saint too.
